Is Citric Acid suitable for use in food and beverage products?

What is Citric Acid?

It’s classified as an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA), which, at appropriate concentrations, means it also supports gentle chemical exfoliation without the irritation potential of stronger exfoliants.  

And as in food applications, its chelating properties help to neutralise the hard water ions that would otherwise interfere with surfactant performance or reduce the stability of sensitive ingredients.
