MegaChem (UK) Ltd is able to offer a comprehensive range of natural fillers and extenders to suit a wide variety of applications. Many of these products are stocked in the UK and are available for standard or express delivery. TDS, SDS and samples will be made available on request.
We can provide technical advice and can supply the products in bulk or smaller amounts if required.
Applications and Uses
Mineral fillers used primarily to add body as well as improve performance characteristics in many resin based systems. For example:
- Added to Decorative or Industrial paints and coatings, as well as Powdercoat, fillers and extenders enhance the properties of other fillers or pigments, such as Titanium Dioxide, but at a substantially lower cost.
- Impact resistance can be enhanced in coatings, Adhesives or Sealants. In Plastics, again these extenders can be used to keep costs down by replacing more expensive pigments used within the system. Barium sulphate can be used in brake linings to improve friction and help to extend the life of the material or as a contrast medium for x-ray photography.
- Mica is often used as a filler within jointing compounds in the Construction industry as well as a component within surface coatings such as Stucco. Talc is used in many different industries including Plastics, paints, Rubber and lubricants.
These are just a few of the applications that we can help you with, if you can’t see what you are looking for, please call us on + 44 (0) 1291 422747 and one of our technical team can help you.
What are Natural Fillers?
Natural fillers and extenders are a range of naturally occurring minerals used to add body to resin systems and to extend the properties of other fillers at a lower cost to the end product. Minerals include Barium Sulphate (also known as Barytes), Calcium Carbonate (Chalk), Calcium Magnesium Carbonate (Dolomite), Silicon Dioxide (Quartz), Hydrated Magnesium Silicate (Talc), Hydrated Aluminium Silicates (Kaolin or China Clay) and other silica based materials such as Mica.
These minerals are cleaned and ground to produce differing properties in terms of dispersibility and adsorption characteristics. From granules to very fine powders with tightly controlled particle size and with a range of physical properties, these minerals are used to influence the finished properties of the systems into which they are added.
All products supplied by MegaChem (UK) Ltd comply fully with REACH and CLP legislation.
